How does it work?

1. Put newspaper, aluminum and steel cans, and plastic bottles (#1, #2) in your Trash Taxi Recycling bin.

2. A Trash Taxi driver collects the material in a truck and transports it to either a county or private recycling facility.

What type of truck do you use?

Depending on routing and equipment, collection vehicles vary. In some areas, all the recyclables can be collected and put into the garbage truck, as the material is sorted and recycled at the dump facility. In other areas, recyclables are collected with either a dedicated vehicle, or set into a separate bin on the garbage truck. The recyclables are then brought to the recycling facility.

Why is there an extra charge for recycling?

The charge covers the extra handling and transportation costs. These costs are higher than the value of the recycled materials.
